Under The Midnight Blue Sky

I always wondered what midnight blue would look like in nature. I mean, for me, the sky, or anything else for that matter, at midnight always looked black or shades of grey. So, I almost thought it was a more poetic name than a scientific one. And then came this photo – quite unintentionally capturing the colour of the sky and I realized what it meant. This photo is unedited – the sky really does look so dark blue. This photo is up here only for those who, like me, want to know what midnight blue really looks like.

A word about the location – the harbour of Lindau with its lighthouse and the Bavarian Lion flanking the entrance is the most famous landmark of this small town on the Lake Constance. Its a really good place as a “base camp” for your holidays on Lake Constance, with very good road, rail, and ferry connections. The town itself is very pretty and the harbour promenade offers many cafes and restaurants to relax. If you are on a longer road trip to Austria, Switzerland or Italy and want to stopover on Lake Constance, this would also be ideal, since the borders of Austria and Switzerland are close by.
