In Barcelona this Christmas Eve, I spent the evening on the beach. (Dec. 2014)
To everyone out there, Merry Christmas and season’s greetings from Barcelona! In my mind, a “white” Christmas is the most beautiful Christmas, so it feels a bit strange to be in Barcelona with temperatures around 14°C (though it does get cold after sundown). But it’s a beautiful city (no secret there) and I have enjoyed my first day here.
The first time I heard about Barcelona was in the song “Barcelona” by Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballe, when I was a teenager. It was just a word and a question then — how is the city like? what are the people like? etc. In between, I have been here on business, but never really experienced the city. Today I am here again, but experiencing the city so differently … being here makes me feel truly fortunate. So, to celebrate, here’s the song again.
