The Cuckoo Clock

That’s a clock…a cuckoo clock. This photo is quite old (as you can see from the date) and taken while driving through the Black Forest, the traditional home of the cuckoo clockmakers…in Schonach im Schwarzwald. This is not a clock in a house – the house itself is a giant clock! It is the world’s largest (or at least one of the world’s largest). Just to get a perspective on the scale of this “clock” – it is 3.60 m (12 feet) wide and 3.10 m (10 feet) high. Every 30 minutes, the window at the top opens up and a giant cuckoo comes out to announce the time.

Believe it or not - that is a cuckoo clock. The world's largest (at least in 2010) in Schonach, Black Forest. (Oct. 2010)
