And If You Didn’t Exist…

 And if you didn’t exist
Tell me why I should exist
To wander this world without you
Without hope and without regrets.
And if you didn’t exist
I would try to invent Love
As a painter who sees from his fingers
The colours of the day come to life…

A rough translation of an excerpt from the song Et Si Tu N’existais Pas by Joe Dassin

It’s not everyday that a French-speaking friend of mine gets all sentimental, lyrical, and starts singing a French love song in that wonderful voice of hers… In this particular case, a really old classic it seems – Et Si Tu N’existais Pas by Joe Dassin. I love languages and I listen to music from all over the place, though I don’t necessarily understand anything of what is being sung (it does lead to some awkward conversations, I tell you).

And since today is 14th Feb, I thought I’d share this with you all…the video’s got subtitles in English, so you’ll understand it alright…the guy’s got a great voice too.

And to all you beautiful people out there…happy Valentine’s! ❤

And if you like duets, here’s the same song as a duet between Hélène Segara and Joe Dassin.
