I viewed a (partial) solar eclipse for the very first time today!!! Viewing from Munich, the Moon had covered about 65% of the Sun.
That too on the eve of Spring!

A partial solar eclipse as seen from Munich on 20.03.2015 (Photo Credit: this wonderful picture was taken by my colleague Thorwald Petersen)
These really cool looking viewing glasses were required to watch the eclipse – if you don’t want to screw up your eyes and sight, that is (which is highly recommended). Moreover, without these glasses, I wouldn’t even notice the eclipse, i.e. actually make out the Moon covering part of the Sun. And.. like me, one “eye” of the viewing glasses is smaller than the other… wonder why?!
