Hitting the Trail with Dobby

As a teenager, I had a pet dog, Caesar – a benevolent German Shepherd. He passed away in 1997. Since then I have been wary of being attached to another pet. I am happy to have them around, but I try really hard not to get attached. Till I met Dobby – this bundle of energy and love in form of a golden retriever. He is a friend’s pet – not ours and yet it is difficult not to get attached to him. Try as hard as I can not to, but he still reminds me of Caesar. Animals too have a personality and Dobby brings back fond memories of the times with Caesar.

Last weekend, we accompanied our friends on a short hike to Staufen in the Taunus along with Dobby and I took my camera with me (I have only a couple of photos with Caesar – I wish I had more)… here some Dobby memories from that quest.

Once in to the woods, Dobby was let off the leash and he kept bounding around - mostly in circles - God knows what he was looking for. (Sep 2016)

When we had gone a bit too far, he would just sit down on the trail and wait for us slowpokes. (Sep 2016)

At the top, Dobby just plomped down and didn't move for about exactly 3 minutes and 27 seconds. Then he was back bounding around and exploring. (Sep 2016)

On the way down, we passed by a small pool and Dobby promptly splashed in without a second thought. That must have felt really good (Sep 2016)
