While driving back from Luxembourg to Frankfurt on the 19th October 2013. The call came at 03:30 am and we started the journey in the dark with a bright full moon as our travel companion. As we reached the outskirts of Frankfurt – on the A66 – the sun was just about to rise. It brought peace – it felt as if he was at peace. Maybe his final journey must have been similar – going from cold and darkness in to warmth and light.

Just that thought made me reach out for my cellphone and take this picture through the travel-stained windscreen…it wasn’t to capture the beauty, just the sense of hope I felt…I feel it even today when I look at it. One of those snapshots, where its not the quality – only the memory that counts.
