Germany’s Fairytale Castle

Neuschwanstein – Germany’s fairytale castle – is a favorite destination for me – its not just the castle, but the region that I love. I have been there 3-4 times now, but I never tire of it…  Here’s my review on Tripadvisor, if you are interested…

So, last December, I took my Mum there as well. With the weather we had, I wasn’t expecting much. But, surprisingly, it wasn’t a bad day (it wasn’t raining at least). After taking the tour of the castle, I went on to the Marienbrücke on my own (with her age, I was surprised she even made the climb up to the castle). The road was closed, as part of the path was covered with ice. I avoided the road and cut across the mountain side… As I reached Marienbrücke, the clouds parted to let the winter sun shine on the castle and the country-side.

That’s when I attempted to capture the incredible view – and there I was, enjoying the moment, as if it was planned for me all along… I said a silent thank you…
